SEAFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a man who died following an apparent ATV crash outside of Seaford.

Troopers identified the victim as 36-year-old Paul C. W. Fleetwood of Seaford.

The reportedly crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday at a private farm field on Bethel Concord Road. Police said Fleetwood was operating a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 700 four wheel ATV and traveling in a northwesterly direction on a private farm field along a tax ditch at the rear of the property. Troopers said it appears the ground gave way along the ditch, causing the ATV to roll to the right down an embankment approximately 10 feet deep. Investigators said the ATV came to rest on top of Fleetwood, who was found underneath the ATV at the bottom of the ditch which contained a very shallow amount of water.

Police said Fleetwood, who was found shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol appears to be a factor, according to investigators.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted and responded to the scene in order to remove Fleetwood's body.  An autopsy will be conducted in an attempt to determine the cause and manner of death.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the accident.
