SALISBURY, Md.- The old water tower near the corner of Route 13 and College Avenue in Salisbury is in the process of being torn down.

The water tower had the old logo of the Delmarva Shorebirds on the facade but as of Monday morning, the logo was gone, along with the entire top half of the old tank.

The Salisbury City Council awarded the land to Hanna Family Investments for $1,000.  It is the responsibility of the buyer to tear down the empty water tower.

It is unclear, at this time, what the plan is for the land once the tower is completely removed.

The water tower had sat unused for many years after a new water tower was constructed near the Salisbury University campus.
