WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - Federal investigators were seen removing boxes of potential evidence from a Wicomico County doctor's office Wednesday afternoon.

A handful of investigators from the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services were at Peninsula Internal Medicine, located on Winterplace Parkway, just outside the city of Salisbury.

Investigators could be seen entering and leaving the rear of the doctor's office as well as focusing a majority of the efforts on a shed located adjacent to the main office.  Outside of the shed were dozens of boxes stacked up in front of a moving truck and investigators could also be seen combing through boxes and files inside the shed as well.

Officials with the OIG-HHS could only confirm to WBOC that a search warrant was executed on Wednesday.  Not other details about the investigation could be revealed.  However, officials with Health and Human Services did tell WBOC their office is responsible for fighting waste, abuse, and fraud in a variety of government programs.  The two biggest programs HHS oversees are Medicaid and Medicare.

The search warrant was filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore and any potential future court proceedings will also take place across the bay.
