OCEAN CITY, Md.- Seacrets restaurant and bar is now in the business of making its own liquor and making history. Seacrets Distillery held its official ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday in Ocean City.

Several local and state politicians were on hand for the ribbon cutting, including Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. The distillery will produce up to 100,000 gallons of alcohol per year of which 15,500 gallons can be sold on Seacrets’ property and the remaining will be sold to local distributors.

The restaurant and bar is the first of its kind to be able to produce and sell its own liquor according to owner Leighton Moore. The distillery is also the first of its kind in Worcester County since prohibition.

Moore said he was happy to be a part of history.

"Our license is 0001, we're the first bar, restaurant, nightclub that is able to actually distill its own liquor, it's a huge day, a historical day," Moore said.

Moore said the distillery will create new jobs and also be a large attraction in Ocean City.
