VP Joe Biden Attends Hockessin's Annual July 4th Parade

Posted: Updated:

HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP)- Vice President Joe Biden returned to Hockessin for the town's annual Independence Day parade.

Biden surprised the crowd attending Monday's event, shaking hands with people and posing for hundreds of pictures.

The annual parade went ahead as scheduled despite the cloudy skies and threat of rain.

Several July Fourth celebrations across the state were postponed as heavy rain and thunderstorms were forecast later in the day. A flash flood warning was issued for Kent and New Castle counties.

Scott Kreps, who attended Monday's parade, says it was nice to see the vice president, who has shown up at the Hockessin parade before.

This year's parade featured antique cars as well as elaborate floats.
