BRIDGEVILLE, Del.– Troopers are investigating a home invasion that occurred southeast of Bridgeville early Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened just before 2 a.m. at a home in the 11000 block of Iris Field Lane.

Troopers say two men forced their way into a home occupied by a 33-year-old man. The suspects, who were reportedly armed with handguns, demanded cash.  When the victim told the suspects he didn’t have any money, police say a suspect then hit him in the back of the head with a gun and kicked him while on the ground.

According to police, the suspects then removed cash and took off in an unknown direction.  Police say the man initially refused medical attention, but was later taken to the hospital where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects were both described as black men wearing masks over their faces. They were armed with unknown types of handguns.

Detectives have determined through preliminary interviews and investigation that this was not a random act and believe the victim may have been targeted in the home invasion.

If anyone has any information in reference to this incident, they are asked to contact Detective R. Truitt at 302-752-3813.  Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword "DSP."
