DELMAR, Md.- Three men are facing armed robbery, assault and firearm charges following accusations that they attacked and robbed several people at gunpoint Thursday in Delmar.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. on the 29600 block of Connelly Mill Road in Delmar.

According to the Sheriff's Office, responding deputies learned that during a group gathering, three men, identified as Muhammad Alanzo Purnell, 18, of Delmar, Md.; Kyle Wade Johnson, 19, of Salisbury, Md.; and Kameron Ja’von Christopher, 18, also of Salisbury; got into an "altercation" with several other individuals.

According to investigators, the three suspects pulled out guns and forced the victims onto the ground and repeatedly struck and kicked them. The deputies were reportedly told that these suspects began striking one of the victims in the head with the butt of one of the handguns while demanding money. The victims told the deputies the suspects took all of their cellphones and then fled the area in a pickup truck, police said.

The suspects were located a short time later driving on an adjacent roadway where they were taken into custody. The Sheriff's Office said one of the above suspects, Purnell, was uncooperative and made repeated threats against law enforcement on the scene before kicking one of the deputies.

Authorities said that during the investigation, the guns used in the commission of the crime were recovered. These firearms were all possessed illegally, investigators said.

Investigators said that while all three were under the legal age of possessing a regulated firearm, two of the suspects, Johnson and Christopher, were prohibited by law from possessing firearms due to a previous criminal conviction.

All three suspects were charged with first-degree assault, firearm possession during a crime of violence, illegal possession of a regulated firearm,         possession of a firearm by a minor, armed robbery and theft under $1,000. Johnson and Christopher were also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The three men were ordered held $500,000 bond each. MD
