DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman after they say her body was found in a Dover apartment, the same day her husband was killed in a car crash.

Troopers identified the woman as Wislene Volcy Deborne and her husband as 36-year-old Pierre Rubens Volcy, both of Dover.

According to police, the investigation began just before 2 a.m. when officers from the Dover Police Department responded to a report of a deadly accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 13 and Webbs Lane.

When officers arrived, they learned a man had been hit by a car after walking in its path on Route 13, police said. The man, later identified as Volcy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later, police found an empty vehicle still running in the parking lot of the Wendy's restaurant at Route 13 and Webbs Lane. According to police, the vehicle was registered to Volcy.

When officers went to make contact with the man's family at his home, 51 Webbs Lane in the Alder Park Apartments, they asked the man who answered the door if they could speak with the victim's wife. That's when police said they found the 25-year-old wife, later identified as Deborne, in the rear bedroom of the apartment suffering from an obvious injury to her upper body. According to police, the man who rented a room at the apartment did not know the woman was dead before officers arrived.

Detectives are continuing their investigation by conducting interviews and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. Police said the 2-year-old son of the couple was taken from the apartment to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital after his mother was located, and reported to have no injuries.  He was turned over to the care of the Delaware Division of Family Services.
