Crisfield's 40th Annual Crab And Clam Bake A Success

CRISFIELD, Md.-  It was a great day for Crisfield and its 40th Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake Wednesday. The all you can eat seafood and politicians drew in over 4,000 people to Crisfield, according to Crisfield's Area Chamber of Commerce. 

The Chamber of Commerce said the event helps with tourist exposure and to raise money for events throughout the year. 

Danny Thompson, co-chairman of the J. Millard Tawes Crab And Clam Bake said, "The money goes for different projects back into the community. It's the major fundraising event for the chamber and that allows us to do other events in town, such as the soft-shell fair, 4th of July fireworks, and the crab derby. It kind of helps underwrite a lot of other events throughout the whole year."

Thompson said this year's national election and a visit from Governor Larry Hogan helped to boost attendance this year.
