Cooling Centers Open on Delmarva

DELMARVA - With the temperatures expected to remain in the 90's this week, many cooling centers have opened across Delmarva.

Wicomico County:

Wicomico County Youth & Civic Center - The Civic Center will be open Tuesday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Civic Center is located at 500 Glen Avenue Salisbury, MD 21804. Residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications. No pets are permitted. Anyone needing transportation to the Civic Center should call Shore Transit at
443-260-2300 (select “dispatch” option).

The MAC Inc., Senior Center -- The center for seniors, ages 55 and older, will be open Tuesday, July 26, 2016 until 7 p.m..

MAC is located at 909 Progress Circle, Salisbury, MD21804.

Worcester County:

Worcester County Recreation Center (WCRC) in Snow Hill as well as any of the five Worcester County branch libraries in Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke. Senior citizens over the age of 55 may also seek relief from the heat at any of the four Worcester County Senior Centers, which are located in Ocean City, Berlin, Snow Hill and Pocomoke, during standard operating hours.

The WCRC is open Monday - Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call Recreation and Parks at 410-632-2144.

Sussex County paramedics will make routine stops at these locations, as time permits, to answer any heat-related questions and/or concerns. Also, free, individual servings of bottled water will be available at the County Administration Building ONLY to help the public cool off from the heat.
