Two Brothers Brawl on Boat in Choptank River

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Two brothers got into a boat fight over the weekend during the annual Cambridge Sailing Regatta.

A viewer sent us a video of a spectator on a boat calling for law enforcement as two men begin to pummel each other in a rental boat on the Choptank River.

According to Candy Thomson, spokesperson for Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, the organization is currently in the process of drafting charges and has consulted with state's attorney and coast guard.

Thomson has identified the two as 19 and 21 year old brothers from Anne Arundel County, saying the 21-year-old initiated the fight but the 19-year-old has declined to press charges.

Thomson says the group on the boat has paid 3,000 dollars cash to cover damages and the rental company is not pressing charges.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police are looking at a possible charge of negligent operation since no on was driving at times and on multiple occasions brawlers pushed against the throttle, causing boat to lurch forward.

According to Thomson, Cambridge Police Department detained people aboard other than the operator who disappeared causing DNR to conduct the investigation and interview passengers.

Thomson says the people who shot the video did exactly the right thing by attempting  to stop the interference, called for law enforcement and videoing what they saw.
