ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- In reaction to a comment made in an email by a Democratic National Committee staffer, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot has sent a letter to the committee's interim chairwoman, Donna Brazille, to tour the city of Cambridge.

The email, sent back in May, by the committee's National Finance Director Jonathan Kaplan, responds to a visit in Cambridge negatively, writing to the receiver of the email saying, " Shxxxx town. We spent the night in Annapolis." A leak of the email was posted on WikiLeaks, causing state officials to come to the defense of the city and its history.

In his letter to Brazille, Franchot says that he was "bothered and disappointed" by what he calls a "disparaging and highly inappropriate comment" by the senior DNC staffer. Before inviting Brazille to tour and visit the city, Franchot argues that "If the [staffer] had spent more than a few hours in Cambridge--visiting its charming main street...and learning its history and culture--I trust he would have reached a different conclusion than the one he ignorantly shared."

Franchot's office told WBOC they have not gotten a response from Brazille.
