With Delmarva Weather Stories, WBOC Meteorologist Jeff Porter is bringing back old weather stories from across the Delmarva Peninsula. He will present personal accounts from those who experienced each extreme weather event.
The stories are exciting and rather extraordinary but in addition to these elements, these stories can help us better focus on what types of weather are expected in each season and expose those weather events that are really out of the norm.
Just 50 years ago two named storms, Connie and Diane, steamrolled through the Delmarva Peninsula. They came within one week of each other, dumping heavy rains and buffeting the area with tropical storm force winds. More
A deadly F-4 tornado developed in late April of 2002 on the Western Shore and spawned a second tornado that crossed the chilly Chesapeake Bay waters and struck much of Dorchester County. Jeff Porter shares this story and also shows the rarity of tornadoes in general in Maryland as well as the extreme rarity of tornadic redevelopment amidst coolish bay temperatures. More
