MILFORD, Del. -- The Milford Police Department says during a car crash investigation, officers became suspicious of one of the vehicles, later leading to a heroin drug bust.

Police report on August 5, at approximately 12 noon, officers of the department's Patrol Division were responding to a car collision on South DuPont Highway (U.S. Route 113) at Marvel Road. While investigating the cause of the crash, police say they believed one of the car's owners obtained illegal drugs. Police then obtained a search warrant for an 1989 Ford crown Victoria, belonging to Lamaj Bougouneau, 22, of Harrington. During the search of the vehicle, police say they obtained 142 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

The Milford Police Department says Bougouneau was charged and taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity among other charges. He was also reported as wanted by the Kent County Court of Common pleas. Police say Bougouneau is being held at the Susex Correctional Institution after failing to post bail of $80,750.
