144th Anniversary Celebration for Salisbury Fire Department

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Fire Department is opening its doors Saturday as part of the 144th Anniversary celebration of the department.

The open house is being held at Station 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Station 16 is located on Cypress Street.

The celebration begins at 8 a.m. with a 5k Downtown Fun Run and then beginning at 10 a.m. there will be demonstrations every half hour for the public.  The demonstrations include a hazmat rescue, vehicle rescue, and bomb squad demonstration.

There will also be face painting, a moon bounce, and more for the kids.

Finally, anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter or EMS member is encouraged to attend the open house and meet with current members and learn about the commitments to the fire department.
