BIVALVE, Md. - A car slammed into a local fire station in Bivalve, Maryland early Monday morning, then caught fire, according to the multiple sources.

The Hebron Fire Department confirmed on its twitter page Monday that firefighters responded to a structure fire on Nanticoke Road around 1:15 Monday.

Photos posted on Facebook by "Wicomico First Alert" show a large hole in the side of the wall. The fire chief for West Side Volunteer Fire Department, John Wilson, said the car hit the West Side Volunteer Fire station, causing significant damage.

**Editor's note: An earlier edition of this article stated the car hit a house. It has since been updated to correct the building was a fire station, not a house.**
