Animals Rescued in Louisiana Floods to Arrive in Virginia

Posted: Updated:

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Cats, dogs and other animals that were rescued from the severe flooding in Louisiana will soon arrive in Virginia.

Local media outlets report that PETA rescue teams have been working in Louisiana to reunite displaced animals with their families.

But the group says the shelters there are filling up. It's planning to bring three van loads of animals rescued from the flooding to Norfolk on Monday.

PETA says it has teamed up with shelters in the Hampton Roads region to take in the animals so they can be adopted.

PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch says the group hopes Hampton Roads residents will open their homes and hearts to the animals.
