Hogan Announces Policy Changes at MACO Conference

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Maryland Governor Larry Hogan made some big policy announcements that could affect the shore at this weekend's Maryland Association of Counties conference.

First, Hogan says he will be ending a statewide mandate put in place by former Governor Martin O'Malley for homes and businesses to use best available technology when it comes to septic systems.  Hogan says business owners and local leaders have told him the regulations have been burdensome and expensive.  He will be repealing that mandate on Monday, but to ensure environmental safeguards are in place, state of the art septic systems will be required in critical areas.

Governor hogan also mentioned in his closing speech at the conference that he will be working to repeal a transportation project scoring system that was put in place this year.  Eastern shore delegates and senators were concerned could put Delmarva's road projects on the back burner.
