SALISBURY, Md.- Construction on Rt. 13 could cause some delays as Salisbury University students head back to class on Monday. Anyone driving along Rt. 13 past the college on Monday should probably leave some additional drive time. The construction that started in the Spring will still be going on.

Some drivers, like Drew Howard said they're glad to see road improvements, but will be happy when the construction is gone. Drew is a returning student to SU and said he's not looking forward to the traffic issues of last semester.

"It was mind numbing, headaches and whatever else. It was a lot, there were cones everywhere, intersections were cut off and you had to drive all the way down to Fruitland sometimes to turn around to get to a place you wanted to on the other side of the road," Howard said.

Road construction along Rt. 13 is expected to continue through the fall according to Bob Rager, with the State Highway Administration. Construction of the Patricia Guerrieri building on campus required a new entrance and extended turn lanes for better traffic flow.

Donald Tilghman said rush hour traffic has been something to deal with, but the construction is a good thing.

"It's a good sign for this area that the economy is moving along," Tilghman said.

Howard said with all the traffic inconvenience he's looking forward to the construction cones being gone and the finished roads.

"It will be good to see what they did as far as the maintenance on the road and everything, because it definitely needed it," Howard said.

SU Official's said traffic patterns around the college will remain the same when classes start on Monday. They said there will be some minor delays because of the construction, but no detours or re-routing.
