DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md.- The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is warning people of a phone scam.

On Tuesday, several people reported getting a call from a person who identified themselves as "Officer Frank" with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office. The caller told people that a bench warrant has been issued, but if they would provide a credit card of banking information for a payment the warrant would be taken care of.

However, Sheriff James Phillips says his officeis not making any calls of this nature, and says the person making the calls is a thief.

Anyone who receives such a call should call their local police department to report the incident.
