3 Arrested After Reported Assault in Crisfield

CRISFIELD, Md. – Maryland State Police arrested three Somerset County men after an assault investigation.

At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack received a call from McCready Hospital reporting an assault. The caller reported the victim had been struck in the head with a gun. Upon arrival, troopers learned the victim has been assaulted and robbed.

Police say the 31-year-old victim had been with his friend, 21-year-old Savon Douglas earlier that day. According to police, Douglas was under the impression that the victim had a large sum of money. Police say he and plotted with 23-year-old Hans Wegt II and 27-year-old Aaron Sterling to rob the victim.

Search warrants were obtained by Maryland State Police and served at the suspects’ homes. During the search, police recovered four guns, individually packaged marijuana, concealed knives, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

Douglas, Wegt, and Sterling were all arrested at the Somers Cove apartment complex in Crisfield. They are all charged with firearms charges, CDS possession marijuana, CDS possession with intent to distribute, robbery, armed robbery and two counts of first degree assault.

The three are being held $250,000 bond at the Somerset County Detention Center.
