CHESTERTOWN, Md.-   In Kent County, Maryland, a hotel in Chestertown suffered a fire Saturday night, leaving the 40 people in that hotel with no place to stay.

The Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company says that the fire was spotted Saturday night at 11pm at the Driftwood In on Washington Avenue.  Fire companies were able to bring the fire under control quickly once they arrived on scene, but not before the unit that the fire was in was completely destroyed.  Neighboring units had smoke, heat, and water damage.

Power was cut to the hotel, and water was too due to damage to the plumbing.  Fire crews were on scene for four hours and an investigation into the cause is now underway.

No one was reported injured.
