Dover Woman Charged With Carjacking

DOVER, Del.- Police have charged a 26-year-old woman with carjacking and other offenses following a Sunday afternoon incident in Dover.  

Dover police said that at around 4:50 p.m., a 65-year-old woman was sitting in a parked vehicle in the area of East Loockerman and Federal streets when Ryadae Jones entered the vehicle.  Jones allegedly started the car and began to drive eastbound on Loockerman Street as the victim was being assaulted by Jones.  

Police said that despite the struggle with Jones, the victim was able to put the car in park and Jones ran away with the keys.  Jones was taken into custody a short time later without incident.

Jones was charged with first-degree carjacking, theft under $1,500 and offensive touching. She was ordered held in the Baylor Women's Correctional Center in default of $61,100 secured bond.
