MAGNOLIA, Del. - Police have arrested a Pennsylvania woman for heroin possession after a traffic stop near Magnolia.

According to the Delaware State Police, a trooper patrolling the area of Millchop Lane and Lambert Drive on Wednesday around 1 p.m. conducted the traffic stop after watching a car fail to use a turn signal.

Police said the trooper smelled marijuana coming from the car, driven by 28-year-old Marquita Brown of Philadelphia. Both Brown and a 28-year-old male passenger were asked to get out of the car while a search was conducted.

According to police, the trooper found a bag under the driver's seat containing 5,200 bags of heroin (78 grams) as well as 0.7 grams of marijuana.

Both people were taken into custody and transported to Troop 3, where Brown was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, manufacture and sale of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and failure to signal. She was arraigned at JP2 and released on $50,000 unsecured bond, according to police, while the male passenger was not charged.
