According to the Delaware State Police, 34-year-old Diana Torres of Smyrna was driving southbound in the northbound lane of South DuPont Highway (US13) when it happened around 12:40 a.m. on Friday. Police said just north of Midstate Road, she hit a tractor trailer that was headed northbound, nearly head on. After the crash, police said both vehicles came to a stop in the center median.

Fifty one-year-old Earl Justice of Hebron, who was driving the tractor trailer, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, but according to police Torres was not wearing a seatbelt. They said she had to be airlifted to Christiana Medical Center with undetermined injuries. She was cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, according to police.

Northbound US13 was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
