18-year-old Hit and Killed by Car in Centreville

CENTREVILLE, Md. - According to Maryland State Police, an unidentified pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on roue 301 in Centreville Friday night.

Police said it happened around 11:06 p.m. when a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Patrick Schleiger from Chapel Hill, NC was heading northbound on 301 heading towards Route 302. The car then hit Eric Emory, 18 of Millington, MD, who was walking in lane one of Route 301 northbound.

According to MSP the Jetta then came to a stop, while Emory landed in the grass median located along 301.

Emory was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead.

The State Highway Administration set up a detour around the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
