QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY, Md.- A Chestertown man is facing charges after police say he posted a message on social media implying a threat to local schools.

Monday morning, the Board of Education was notified of a message posted on the social media site “Snap Chat” which implied a threat to students and staff at Queen Anne’s County High School and Sudlersville Middle School.

The two schools were put on lockdown as officials notified law enforcement. The Sheriff's Office responded and they were able to identify the person posting the message.

Anthony Maurice Butler III, 18, turned himself in to detectives later Monday afternoon. He has been charged with 2 counts of arson threat, 2 counts of school disruption and 2 counts of false statement of a destructive device (bomb threat).

Both schools quickly resumed their normal schedules with minimal instructional disruption after this incident in Queen Anne's County.
