GEORGETOWN, Del. (WBOC/AP)- A Millsboro woman has been charged with sexual abuse after police say they learned she was engaging in sexual acts with a student enrolled at the school where she worked.

Twenty-three-year-old Nicole Degirolano was arrested Tuesday by Georgetown police and charged with four counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, authority, or supervision. She was ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $80,000 secured bond.

According to Georgetown police, an investigation revealed that Degirolano engaged in sexual acts with a 17-year-old male student.

School district spokesman David Maull said the alleged acts occurred while Degirolano worked as an instructional aide at the G.W. Carver Educational Center in a special placement program for English language learners.
