LEWES, Del. - Lewes police are searching for a suspect wanted for scamming elderly people across Delaware.

Officers started investigating a home improvement fraud in Lewes on Aug. 12. According to police, a couple in their 80's who live on Samantha Drive entered into a contract with Frederick Maahs, also known by the company name “Freddy Fix-it."

Police say Maahs agreed to build a deck on the couple's home and accepted a $3,000 down payment, but then took the money and did not return or perform any work.

According to police, Maahs is a white, 75-year-old man, last seen driving a white van, with the last known addresses of Spruce Road in Rehoboth Beach and the 3000 block of Canterbury Road in Harrington.  Police say he is also wanted for similar offenses by the Georgetown, Milton and Wilmington Police Departments. Anyone who knows where he might be should contact the Lewes Police Department at 302-645-6264 or call 911.
