PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Police have charged a Pocomoke man with burglary after they say he tried to steal from a homeowner whose car he had offered to wash.

Princess Anne police said the arrest of 53-year-old Kendall Norman stemmed from a burglary complaint at a home in the Beckford Manor development. Investigation revealed Norman was approaching residents in the neighborhood about washing their cars.

According to police, Norman entered one of the homes through an unlocked door and tried to steal a pocketbook when the homeowner caught him. He ran away, but officers found him later and charged him with multiple burglary and theft offenses. Norman was committed to the Somerset County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.

Investigators are looking into whether Norman was involved in similar incidents in recent weeks. Anyone who recognizes him or the car he was driving when he was arrested on Monday is asked to contact Princess Anne police at 410-651-1822.
