Suspect Arrested In Dover Holdup

DOVER, Del. - Dover police report they have arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly holding up another man at gunpoint and demanding money.

Police say the incident happened Thursday, Oct. 6 shortly before 3 a.m.  A 48-year-old man told officers he was walking in the area of S. New Street and Reed Street when he was approached by a black male suspect from behind.  The suspect demanded the victim's money at gunpoint and the victim complied, dropping money and then started to walk away when the suspect fired a single shot, striking a bag that the victim was carrying.  Police say the suspect took off in an unknown direction after the incident.

18-year-old Javon Jones was later identified as the suspect in the robbery and Dover police say they arrested Jones on Thursday night without incident.  Jones is now being held on $107,000 cash bond on the following charges:
-Robbery, 1st Degree
-Reckless Endangering
-Possession of Deadly Weapon During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
