REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP)- State prosecutors have dropped child endangerment charges against a Rehoboth Beach woman accused of leaving her children home alone while she picked up food.

Prosecutors dropped the charges against 55-year-old Susan Terrillion on Sept. 22 after the Department of Justice determined it could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she committed a crime.

DOJ spokesman Carl Kanefsky says that the state couldn't prove that she intentionally, knowingly or recklessly acted in a way that would have likely injured her children, who are 8 and 9. He says "negligent parenting" doesn't satisfy the requirements of the criminal statute.

Terrillion was arrested after she left her two children at their Scarborough Village vacation home to pick up crabs for dinner.
