UPDATE: Officials Say Deadly Fire in Salisbury Intentionally Set

SALISBURY, Md. – The Office of the State Fire Marshal has identified the victim of a deadly fire and says the cause was intentional.

On Oct. 24, officials say 42 year-old Michael P. Webster intentionally set fire to the home on the 300 block of Pryor Ave. According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Webster knowingly spread a flammable liquid throughout a number of rooms inside the home and ignited the liquid with an open flame.

Salisbury firefighters responded to the scene and upon entering the home found Webster, according to officials. The fire was brought under control within approximately 45 minutes by 25 firefighters.

The cause of death is said to smoke inhalation. . Damage to the structure and contents were estimated to be approximately $30,000
