GEORGETOWN, Del. (WBOC/AP)- After five hours of deliberation, a Delaware Superior Court jury has found a former assistant principal of a Milford elementary school not guilty of three counts of unlawful sexual contact.

The 12-member jury, consisting of nine women and three men, deliberated for about three hours on Wednesday afternoon and two hours on Thursday morning before reaching a verdict.

Edward S. Husbands, 46, served as the assistant principal at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. He was arrested in June of 2015 following accusations that he had molested three of his daughter's friends at sleepovers held at his home.

During the trial, Husbands' daughter said that she had been told by her mother and aunt to lie to detectives about her father sleeping on an air mattress with the three accusers.

After the trial got underway, Husbands' defense argued to have the case thrown out, saying his client's right to a speedy trial has been violated due to numerous delays and postponements. The court rejected that argument and allowed the case to reach the jury's hands.
