SEAFORD, Del.- The Delaware State Police are investigating a car crash that occurred just north of Seaford, Delaware Thursday evening.

The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Hearns Pond Road, just east of Wesley Church Road, according to police.

Police said the car, for unknown reasons, drove off the north side of the road and hit a utility pole, before flipping onto its side. According to a Facebook post by Delaware Electric Cooperative, about 2,000 members in the Laurel and Seaford areas were without power following the crash; but as of 7:25 p.m. that power was said to be mostly restored.

Two people were in the car during the time of the crash, according to police. Police said the driver was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was admitted with unknown injuries. The passenger, another man, had to be airlifted to Christiana Medical Center, police said, where as of late Thursday night was listed in serious condition.

Troopers are still investigating the crash in Seaford. Hearns Pond Road between Wesley Church Road and Conrail Road was closed for several hours while crews worked to repair the pole and remove wires from the car.
