OCEAN CITY, Md. - A Maryland State Police investigation has determined that an accident involving an Ocean City police officer that killed a pedestrian in May was unpreventable.

According to Ocean City police, the investigation into the May 3 crash was forwarded to Worcester County State’s Attorney Beau Oglesby, who found that there was no criminal liability and that no disciplinary action or additional training was needed.

Police said 67-year-old Jeffrey Delong of Kutztown, Pa., was killed early on the morning of May 3 when he was hit at the intersection of 94th Street by a marked Ocean City Police patrol vehicle driven by on-duty officer Xeniya Patterson.
