CENTREVILLE, Md. - The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a stabbing that happened Friday night at a high school football game.

According to the sheriff's office, 50-year-old Rodney O'Neal Wesson, of Baltimore and Cecil County, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and use of a deadly weapon with intent to injure. He is being held without bail at the Queen Anne's County Detention Center, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said Friday night, Wesson was attending the Queen Anne's vs. Elkton football game in Centreville when he got into an argument with his estranged wife. Deputies said the two were at the game watching their son play on the visiting team. However, when another man intervened, who was only identified as a friend of Mrs. Wesson, deputies said Mr. Wesson stabbed him in the chest.

Deputies said the assault was quickly contained and the football game continued.

As of Saturday evening, detectives said the injured man had survived his wound and was expected to be released from the hospital.
