SALISBURY, Md. - Monday night, the Salisbury city council will vote to move a downtown parking lot one step closer to development.

Currently, Lot 10, which is located at the intersection of Route 13 and Route 50 in Salisbury, is the home of the "Park and Flea" flea market on the weekends.  While the flea market remains popular, the real estate its held on attracted some suitors that want to use the land for development.

The city council will be voting at their regular meeting to declare the lot as surplus.  That would allow the city to sell the land to Salisbury Development Group LLC.  City leaders have a desire to see the lot turned into a "mixed-use" location, used for new retail and housing.

As far as the "Park and Flea," organizers have expressed their desire to remain downtown and city leaders have said a plan will be drawn up for the flea market to remain downtown when development begins in Lot 10.
