Flu Cases Confirmed in all Delaware Counties

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP/WBOC)- Flu season has arrived, with cases of the virus having now been confirmed in all three of Delaware's counties.

The Delaware Division of Public Health said in a statement Monday that a new case has been lab-confirmed recently in Sussex County involving an infant who is now recovering at home. In New Castle County, a 64-year-old man has contracted the flu, as well as a 77-year-old woman who was hospitalized. None of the new cases had records that they have received their flu vaccine this season, according to officials.

State health officials had previously confirmed that two men from Kent County had come down with the bug.

Officials urged the public to receive a flu vaccine, as it takes two weeks after vaccination for the body to develop antibodies that protect from flu.

Call the health department at 800-282-8672 or visit flu.delaware.gov for more information on public flu clinics.
