PRMC Experiences Partial Power Failure

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md.- Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Friday morning experienced a major power failure in its older outlying buildings on campus.

Delmarva Power is on site working with the hospital's facilities crews to determine what caused the outage and to attempt to restore power, which has been out since 6:45 a.m., according to hospital officials.

PRMC's education center, the cardiac rehab portion and some older offices are impacted by the outage, according to hospital officials. However, the main hospital building is unaffected, including its ER. Surgeries are also continuing as normal, hospital officials said.

As a result of the outage, PRMC evacuated the education center and canceled cardiac rehab appointments. Children in the education center's daycare were moved to the main hospital building.
