Local Man Raising Money for Millsboro Dogs By Auctioning off Custom Guitars

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Nicholas Lee makes his living by making guitars. Now, he's making 14 new guitars to raise money for the 14 dogs rescued off a Millsboro property last week.

Lee is auctioning off the custom-made guitars on Christmas Day, with all the proceeds going to the Brandywine SPCA where the dogs are currently being treated.

"When I first heard the story, I knew something had to be done," Lee told WBOC. "The surviving dogs would need extensive care and rehab, so I thought what better to do than try and unite and make something happen special for them."

Each guitar retails from $2,000-$6,000, but to win one, all people have to do is donate $10 to Lee's GoFundMe for the dogs. A $10 donation equals one entry into the auction, so a $100 donation would merit ten entries. Lee says their goal is to raise $35,000 with the GoFundMe, and potentially more, as the dogs' care will cost upwards of that amount. Lee says he hopes his campaign will get the community involved.

"It's all about the dogs at the end of the day," he says. "As long as these fourteen are taken care of, there are many more out there that need help. And so I think with this event, we could hopefully encourage other businesses to follow in our steps."

In addition to the auction, 50 percent of sales from Lee's website will go to the dogs. He urges anyone who suspects a case of animal cruelty to Call the Delaware Animal Services Hotline at 302-255-4646.

More information on Lee, the auction, and how to donate can be found on the GoFundMe page.
