FELTON, Del.– Delaware State Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with an early Thursday morning attempted robbery of the Canterbury Shore Stop in Felton.

Troopers said the incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. when a male suspect entered the convenience store, located at 8953 South DuPont Highway, and approached the counter armed with an unknown type handgun.  A male customer, along with two employees, were near the counter area when the suspect demanded the customer to the floor. Police said the customer refused and when the suspect tried to gain access behind the counter, the customer blocked the entryway, which caused the suspect to flee the business in an unknown direction without any merchandise or money.  The employees and the customer were uninjured in the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11, 150-180 pounds, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and gray/white colored pants. He was also armed with an unknown type handgun.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact DSP's Troop 3 Major Crimes Unit at 302-698-8434. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
