Rt. 90 to Experience Partial Road Closure

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md.- A popular route taken to Ocean City will be partially closed for part of this week.

At 7 a.m. Monday, crews shut down Route 90 between the Route 50 ramp overpass and Route 113, which is about a mile east of 50. The Maryland state Highway Administration said the closure is needed so it can resurface the road to extend its life and improve traction and drainage.

That section of Route 90 will reopened Monday night but will be closed again Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., weather-permitting.

The opioid epidemic continues to ravage the nation, including here in Sussex County where nearly half of the deaths from drug overdoses this month are from Delaware's southern-most county.

The recent spike has prompted a state warning specifically targeted at heroin users. According to the release, the uptick may be the result of heroin being laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid much more powerful than most drugs.
