Harrington Police: Mom Left Baby, Child Alone in Car While Shopping

HARRINGTON, Del.- Harrington police say a woman left two children alone in a vehicle while she went into a pharmacy to shop.
    
According to police, 28-year-old Takara L. Morris of Harrington is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said that on Tuesday officers on patrol were called to the Walgreens on South DuPont Highway for a report of children left unattended in a vehicle. When officers arrived the witness and suspect vehicle had left. Officers were able to contact the witness via telephone and able to obtain a registration off of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was registered to Morris and officers went to her home and contacted her, according to police.

Police said the ensuing investigation determined that Morris left two children, ages 6-months-old and 8-years-old, inside her vehicle with the engine was running while she went inside of Walgreens for approximately 20 minutes.

After being charged with the aforementioned offenses, Morris was released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
