DENTON, Md.- The Caroline County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a man who ran over a deputy's foot while fleeing a traffic stop.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 39-year-old Allan Dortez Jones was arrested by US Marshals, along with Maryland State Police and detectives from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, at a home in Easton early Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said that at around 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Jones in the area of Preston and American Corner roads.

Investigators said that shortly after the traffic stop, Jones fled in his vehicle and ran over a deputy's foot. Jones then crashed his vehicle in the area of Payne and Craft roads and ran, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Authorities searched the area for Jones but were unable to locate him.

Jones has been served with multiple charges related to the traffic stop and fleeing and has been transported to the District Court Commissioner. His disposition there is pending at the time of this release.
