Dorchester Co. Police Chase Leads to Drug Charges

Posted: Updated:

HURLOCK, Md. - A Mardela Springs man has been arrested after leading police on a chase through Hurlock.

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, officers attempted to pull over 33-year-old Tyrell Washington on Wednesday in Hurlock. Deputies said Washington did not stop and instead sped up. The car chase ended on Glen Oak Circle when Washington lost control of his car, ran through a yard and side swept a house, according to the sheriff's office.

That's when they said Washington jumped out and ran away. A K-9 team found him a short time later about a half mile away hiding in a trash can.

The sheriff's office said Washington was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Malicious Destruction of Property under $1,000
  • Possession of Marijuana over 10 grams
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Oxycodone
  • 26 Traffic-related charges

Washington was ordered to be held on $10,000 bond on the drug charges. A wanted check revealed that he was also wanted in Wicomico County for violation of probation and in Sussex County. He was ordered held without bond for those two cases.
