We have our own surgical facility for multiple reasons.
Convenience:
Patients who undergo their surgery in a hospital setting must travel to yet another facility, worry about finding another parking place, pay for parking, wait in lines, register at another institution and interface with more strangers. All of these tasks are avoided when we perform the surgery in our office-based surgical suite.
Patients and their families experience stress when they have to worry about driving to a hospital, finding a parking place there, walking through the hospital, smelling hospital odors, registering at the hospital, waiting in hospital lines and sitting in hospital waiting rooms. Patients who decide to have their surgery in our operating room simply return to a familiar place with familiar faces. It’s so much nicer.
Many post-operative wound infections result from cross contamination in the hospital. Bacteria is accidentally carried from an infected patient to a healthy one undergoing surgery. Since there are no sick, infected patients staying in our facility, patients treated in our facility have a lower risk of acquiring an infection.
In our surgical suite we have %100 control over the behavior of the office staff and surgical team. We have no such control over employees of any hospital. All of our employees are required to treat our patients with the utmost respect and warm kindness. Thus, patients treated in our facility receive care with more compassion and warmth.
Surgery scheduled in a hospital O.R. can be delayed for hours due to earlier surgical cases performed by other surgeons of other specialties or unexpected trauma cases appropriately placed in front of scheduled ones. Neither of these can take place in our surgical suite. Patient and family frustration is avoided here.
