SALISBURY, Md.- A Wicomico County jury has found an Accomack County man guilty on multiple child sex charges.

Dallas Fenton, 59, was convicted Tuesday of eight counts of third-degree sex offense, sexual solicitation of a minor and indecent exposure.

Prosecutors said Fenton made contact with a 14-year-old girl through a smartphone app called Whisper and Skype where he began sexual conversations with her.

Fenton traveled from Virginia to Wicomico County four times between April and May of 2016 to engage in sexual activity with the girl, according to prosecutors. They said that on one occasion, Fenton had intercourse with the girl on the side of the road and then dropped her off at a middle school dance.

Sentencing was deferred pending a pre-sentence investigation.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Ella Disharoon said, "This serves as a valuable reminder that we need to be vigilant regarding our children's smartphone and Internet access. There are predators online, waiting to take advantage of vulnerable children."
