Apartment Fire in Dover Puts One Person in the Hospital

DOVER, Del.- The Dover Fire Department was alerted to a structural fire Wednesday morning in an apartment building on Carvel Drive. 

The Towne Point Apartment Building was smoking from the third floor, according to Dover Fire Department firefighters.  Crews quickly extinguished the fire and removed residents from the third floor.  

Officials said one resident, however; escaped on their own and was transported to Kent General Hospital and then to Crozer Chester Medical Center. 

11 units were condemned on the third floor of Towne Point Apartments, 9 units were occupied, according to the Dover Fire Department. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the City of Dover Fire Marshal's Office.
