SEAFORD, Del.- A wanted man hid in an attic to avoid arrest, according to the Seaford Police Department.

According to police, officers were called to assist Probation and Parole, which was attempting to take 50-year-old Howard Wise into custody Wednesday morning. Wise had several probation violations and Superior Court warrants, police said.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Chandler Street and discovered that Wise had hid himself in the attic in order to prevent his arrest, police said. After about an hour, Wise decided to give himself up and was taken into custody, police said.

Officers observed drugs, paraphernalia and ammunition in plain view within Wise's home, police said.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $4,500 cash bail.
